Have your
veterinarian check on these protocols:
- University
of Wisconsin (Madison)
- University
of Tennessee
- Colorado
State
My own veterinary
oncologist treated in the order shown but has since switched to the Tennessee
protocol first, followed by the Wisconsin protocol when the first remission
fails. This seems to produce longer remission periods.
Dr. Ogilvy
at Colorado State has a new protocol for long-term treatment. It's supposed
to keep lymphoma patients alive for longer periods. It seems successful
for patients like Jesse whose initial response to treatment was good.
Colorado
recommends dietary changes also. A high protein, high fat diet increases
remission times.
One warning:
make sure you really want to do this before you start. It's expensive
and time-consuming. However, lymphoma responds well to chemotherapy, and
the mean survival time for dogs is now about 20 months.
