Dickon is my ADD dog - he can concentrate intensely on anything he's interested in, but he's easily distracted. He finds the world a great place to study, but it's hard to focus him if he's found a target elsewhere.

Obviously, working him in obedience was rough! But I learned a lot about motivating a hard-to-reach dog.

He is, however, a gentleman around the house and my son's best friend.

Dickon had to retire from the obedience ring because a nearly-fatal bout of meningitis left him with residual nerve damage in his front legs. He can no longer jump. He can, however, still swim - the thing he loves most in the world. Actually, it's not swimming - it's retrieving whatever's floating in the water. Logs are his favorite - the bigger the better.

He is a joy to have around, and he's adapting to his role as pack leader pretty well. He has a harem now, and sometimes he pays as much attention to "his girls" as he does to his teddy bear collection.
